The De La Salle Green Archers recruitment spree is on and they mean business.
The Green Archers will beef up their roster with the acquisition of Cameroonian sensation Benoit Mbala from the 2012 Cebu Schools Athletic Federation Inc. (CESAFI) champion Southwestern University Cobras.
In a text message to Inboundpass.com, a reliable source close to the team confirmed the addition of the 6-foot-5 burly Mbala into the DLSU recruitment roster, “Confirmed. Mbala to DLSU, Animo!”
The 18-year-old center drew attention from Manila-based schools after the Cobras competed in the recently concluded Philippine Collegiate Champions League.
Mbala erupted for 41 points in their lone win against the UST Growling Tigers, 93-91, on November 25, 2012 and averaged 23.25 points in their four games.
Early January, the Green Archers added another guard from St. John Institute, Kib Montalbo, who’s a member of NBA All Star Philippine team that played in the China tournament few years ago.
La Salle finished 4th in the UAAP Season 75 but failed to win their semifinals match-up against league rival, the Ateneo Blue Eagles.
After a season with the Cobras, Mbala will have a year to serve his residency requirement under league eligibility rules.
