FilOil 2012: SBC and NU remain unbeaten, Blue Eagles topple UE

The National University Bulldogs literally rolled over the EAC Generals with an immense 41-point surplus (biggest lead at 43 in the middle of the 4th quarter), 93-52, to take a 4-0 slate in Group B of the tournament.
Denice Villamor led all scorers with 16-points for NU followed by Emmanuel Mbe with another double-double performance with 12-points and 14 rebounds, Cedrick Labing-Isa with 12-points including a 75% shooting clip from beyond the arc and Mark De Guzman with 11-points and 8 rebounds.
Noube Happi led EAC with 12-points and 10 rebounds, followed by Igee King also with 12-points.
EAC had 22 turnover compared to NU’s 16. The Bulldogs had 24 turnover points with only 5 for the Generals.
In the 2nd game, the San Beda Red Lions remain unbeaten in Group A at 6-0, with a 77-61 win over the Mapua Cardinals.
After a close 1st half, San Beda Head Coach Ronnie Magsanoc simply reminded the Red Lions that “we are playing without emotion on both ends of the court” and his players responded. The Red Lions exploited the Mapua’s failure to execute on the offensive with 10-turnover points in the 2nd half.
Jake Pascual had 15-points to lead all scorers and 12 rebounds, followed by Julius Armon with 12-points.
Mapua’s Mike Parala and former PCU Dolphins, Jumel Chien were slapped with disqualifying fouls and were both automatically ejected from the game. Both were caught having similar altercations with Kyle Pascual and Armon respectively in the 2nd half. The Cardinals, now 0-2 in Group A.
Overall, the Red Lions shot better from the floor with 46% compared to the Cardinals 36%.
In the main event, the Ateneo Blue Eagles survived a strong 1st half by the UE Red Warriors, 79-73, to take their 4th win in 5 games of the tournament.
This time, sophomore phenom, Keifer Ravena led the Blue Eagles with 16-points and 4 rebounds, followed by Oping Sumalinog with 15-points, Nico Salva with 14-points and 7 rebounds and Justin Chua with 10-points.
Roy Sumang likewise had 16-points, including 6 rebounds and 7 assists to literally carry the load for UE, followed by Chris Javier with 11-points and 5 rebounds and Pedrito Galanza with 11-points plus his torrid 3/4 shooting from beyond the arc.
Ateneo had 21 fastbreak points compare to UE’s 7.
