FilOil 2012: NU now 2-0, Knights recover for 1st win

Bobby Ray Parks had 29-points (15-points at the half) and 9 rebounds to lead all scorers, followed by Denice Villamor, Mark De Guzman with 15-points each along with Angelo Alolino with 10-points. The Tamaraws had some productive minutes from Arvie Bringas with 13-points, followed by Roger Pogoy and Terence Romeo with 12 and 11 points respectively.
After 2 lead changes in the 1st half, the Bulldogs were in full control of the ballgame. Despite their deficit, FEU had out-rebounded NU 46-37 with13 2nd chance points against NU’s 3. NU had more assists, 19-14 and out-hustled the Tamaraws with more steals 7-3.
Letran 64, UE 56
After trailing UE in the 1st quarter, 10-16, the Knights took the driver’s seat at the end of the 1st half, 26-24. Then Letran took control of the ball game with a 12-point lead to close the 3rd quarter, 51-39. Kevin Alas led all scorers with 17-points. Kevin Racal and Jam Cortes contributed 12 and 11-points respectively for the Knights. Former Letran Squires, Roy Sumang had 12-points to lead UE follwed by Chris Javier and Pedrito Galanza with 8-points each.
Letran had excellent production from its long and midrange game with 29% from the 3-pt area (17% for UE) and 45% from the 2-pt. Range with only 36% for UE. UE out-rebounded Letran 53-36. The Red Warriors also had 9 2nd chance points with no production for the Knights on that department.
