San Beda massacres San Sebastian-Cavite

THE San Beda College Red Lions have some business to take care of.
After being dethroned as champions by the San Sebastian College – Recoletos Golden Stags in the 85th Season of the NCAA, San Beda opened their 2009 Philippine Collegiate Champions League in dominating fashion by destroying the back-to-back NAASCU Champions and Golden Stags’ fellow Recollect School, San Sebastian College – Recoletos Cavite, 91-50 at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig City last November 23, 2009.
For the Red Lions team captain, Bam Gamalinda, the games he will be playing in this win-or-go-home tournament will be treated with significant value.
“Sobrang, sobrang, sobrang importante sa akin to kasi ito na ang last league ko for representing San Beda kaya I want to win this,” said Gamalinda, sounding like a man on a mission.
Bam Bam had a superb performance, finishing with a game-high 18 points, 13 rebounds and 5 steals. The rest of the Red Lions contributed in their own ways as no player who was sent in by Head Coach Frankie Lim left the court scoreless.
“Motivate ko lang sila especially sa defense and executing our offense,” answered Gamalinda when asked how he plans to be a leader for his team.
San Beda now enters the Elite Eight and will face the winner of the 9-time CESAFI Champion University of Visayas Green Lancers and Mapúa Cardinals game to be played on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at The Arena in San Juan City.
Bryan Filio was the only Baycat who reached double-figures with 12 points. They were ousted in the Sweet 16 of the PCCL for the second straight year.
The scores:
SBC 91 – Gamalinda 18, Pascual 14, de la Rosa 11, Lanete 11, Villanueva 8, Soliman 7, Caram 6, Sorela 6, Daniel 5, Lim 3, Tecson 2.
SSC-R Cavite 50 – Filio 12, Alcasabas 8, Pasagui 5, Gracilla 4, Lucernas 3, Acain 2, Antipuesto 2, Atangan 2, Basa 2, Callado 2, Dela Cruz 2, Escobal 2, Reyes 2, Pono 2, Pantonia 0.
Quarter scores: 19-6, 46-14, 67-28, 91-50.

@Hellboy
Incompetence looks for a target to vent out its frustrations. One character here has been so bereft of logic and reasoning he says anything to try to get my goat and fails miserably.
Unfortunately, I GOT HIS a long time ago, and it drives him crazy that he got pwned through his own doing.
Denial of the facts do not change the facts.

you guys are funny. me pwnd? jesus, on the contrary its you who is pwnd — by just about everyone else here at inboundpass.
“once a bedan always a bedan” is for those who studied elementary and high school at san beda, this saying loses much of its luster in the CAS because majority of the college students are from two bit schools in recto and espana - like your school for example. most of the good san beda high schoolers matriculate either at ateneo, up or la salle.
huwag kang makisiksik, di ka naman tunay na bedista eh, nakatungtong ka lang ng college sa mendiola akala mo bedista ka na. that’s not how it works moron.

Who’s “everyone”: You, yourself and you?
Show yourself in B.com if you are for real. I’m just a PM away.

In my opinion, player slots in the UAAP and the NCAA should be reserved for the Filipino. At the very least, if they still insist on allowing “foreigners” on their teams, they should limit it to foreign citizens with at least a speck of Filipino blood. This way we can keep it truly a Filipino game that prioritizes helping our very own.”
I wouldn’t go that far; I think that the long-standing current rule is reasonable: only two foreigners on the team and only one can be on the court at a time.
Manotoc is referring to the apparent success of San Beda …. three-peat courtesy of Sam Ekwe, and now a top-tier team in the NCAA (with Daniels) ….. and next season, a slew of foreigners in the NCAA and UAAP ….. they do ease out the gifted but smaller high school stand-outs ….
But I think he misses the point. For as long as these foreigners are bona-fide students, we shouldn’t mind. It would be great watching someone from abroad who desires a Filipino education competing in the same arena as fellow students.
But what will entice an American (Daniels) or a Bahraini (Malabes) to study here? Sam Ekwe was reportedly desirous of becoming a priest and hence wanted to hone up on English. But for others, there is the suspicion (unfounded though it may be) that these players are not students but pros.
As I said, for me, the leagues and the leadership should ensure that college/university sports remain a competition amongst students, foreigners or locals regardless. A level playing field
