THE Mapua Cardinals are one win away from securing a ticket to the Sweet 16 of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League after destroying the Central Colleges of the Philippines Bobcats, 95-59 on day two of the PCCL Manila B Zonals at the La Consolacion Gym in Manila last November 11.
Former NCAA Rookie of the Year Allan Mangahas led the demolition job for the Cardinals with 24 points. The ace guard is currently averaging 21 points per game in the four-team, single round-robin tournament.
Jordan Rios led the Bobcats with 12 points with Mark Pangilinan adding 10 in a losing cause.
Leading after ten minutes of action, the Bobcats lost steam as the Intramuros five regained their composure in the second period. Four Cardinals scored in double-figures to boost their team’s chances of taking the only available Sweet 16 berth in this zonal.
Meanwhile, hosts La Consolacion Blue Royals bowed to Universal College, which played without main gunner Mark Montilla. Both teams sport 1-1 win loss cards, and will automatically be knocked out if Mapua defeats the Mendiola outfit on the final playdate.
