Ateneo, JRU remain unbeaten in NSL 2009

Four unbeaten teams - two emerged victorious while the other two suffered their first setback in the tournament.
In the 1st game, Ateneo initially had the upperhand over Adamson in the 1st quarter, 15-14. The Blue Eagles limited the Falcons to just 5 points in the next 10 minutes of action and have an 8-point lead by half-time. Ateneo finished the 3rd period with a 5-point lead, 47-42 at the end of the 3rd.
In the final period, Adamson was able to tie the count at 49-all via a 3-point Field Goal from Austin Manera. Two more baskets from Roider Cabrera and Jerick Canada gave the Falcons a taste of the lead 53-49 with 3:27 minutes remaining in regulation. Jai Reyes rose to the occasion and scored the last 5 points for an Ateneo victory.
Nonoy Baclao paced the Blue Eagles with 13-points while Alex Nuyles led the Falcons with 13-points.
In the 2nd game, the 1st quarter ended with a 6-point lead by the JRU Heavy Bombers. In 2nd quarter, Letran managed to trim the lead down to just 2-points by halftime, 41-39.
At the end of the 3rd period, the Knights grabbed the lead, 59-51 courtesy of Aloy Taplah. Then Marvin Hayes took over the game in the 4th period with a 74-67 victory over the Letran Knights.
John Wilson top scored for the Heavy Bombers with 21 points while deadly-shooter Jaypee Belencion paced the Knights with 14-points.
