Ateneo, with Ryan Buenafe back on the bench but on street clothes, had a narrow, 73-71 win over the San Sebastian Golden Stags with a buzzer beater by veteran point guard Jai Reyes.

The game was really close since tipoff.  Ateneo had the upper hand at the end of the 1st 10minutes of action 21-17. Jimbo Aquino, playing his final year with the Golden Stags led the team with 21 points. Jai Reyes  paced the Blue Eagles with 18 points including that 17 foot jumper to lift the Eagles past San Sebastian.

Ateneo relied on veteran Rabeh Al-Hussaini and sweet-shooting rookie Chris De Chavez who scored 11-points and 10-points respectively.   With 4:52 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, the Golden Stags were leading by 10 points.  But the Blue Eagles countered with a 9-0 run with 7 points coming from Chris De Chavez.

Ateneo took the driver’s seat at the 3:34 minute mark in the 4th quarter by 6-points with a Rabeh Al- Hussaini jumper.  San Sebastian then made a comeback thru the efforts of Raymond Maconocido and Calvin Abueva who tied the count at 71 all with 12 seconds remaining in regulation then Jai Reyes took over the game was history.

In the 2nd game, the FEU Tamaraws had a commanding, 111-55, over UDM.  Ryan Garcia carried the load for the Tamaraws with 17 points.  Marlon De La Cruz had 16-points for UDM.
