EAC, St. Clare, Lyceum and UST qualify for the PCC Zonal Tournament

Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals (90) vs. STI College Olympians (86)
EAC relied on Lovell Yaya (18-points), Argel Mendoza (14-points), and veteran shooting guard Julius Quiambao (14-points) to defeat the Olympians, 90-86. The Generals became the 1st team among the Wildcard contenders to enter the Zonal tournament. Darryl Mendoza top scored for STI with 21-points, followed by Ramon Mabayo with 19-points and Mike Cabangon with 15-points.
Lyceum University of the Philippines (77) vs. De Ocampo Memorial College (75)
Lyceum needed an axe to pull out a win on this one. De Ocampo, with a strong 4th quarter surge, would just not go quietly into the night. But Lyceum had what it takes to get the job done as they pounced on De Ocampo Memorial, 77-75, and advance to the Zonal qualifying round. Regie Rimando was his usual take charge self with an 18-point contribution for Lyceum followed by Glen Taguibao with 10-points. Waldemar Tibay, Jake Vista, and Rio Flores had 12-points each for De Ocampo.
St. Clare College of Caloocan Saints (70) vs. St. Francis of Assisi College Doves (66)
The Saints needed a strong 4th quarter finish to squeeze past the Doves, 70-66, to qualify for the zonal tournament.  After a commanding 22-9 1st quarter lead, Rex Leynes took matters into his own hands with 15 3rd quarter points and help ignite a 7-0 attack to end 30-minutes of action with the Saints still on top, 56-45. Mack Opalia sealed the win with a go-ahead basket, 67-63 with only 37 seconds left in regulation. The Saints had 43 rebounds against the Doves’ 42. St. Francis ended their Wildcard campaign with 18 turnovers against St. Clares’ 16. Leynes had a game total 22-points followed by James Castanarez with 16-points. Saints veteran big man Aries Parinas had 20-points while forward Richmond Sibal had 16-points.
UST Growling Tigers (69) vs. Las Pinas College Blue Lions (56)
The Growling Tigers cruised to a 69-56 win over the hapless Blue Lions and hopefully regain lost glory from their dismal performance in the regular season. Dylan Ababou was his own usual deadly self as he carried the scoring load for UST with 24-points, 4 rebounds with a 5 of 7 shooting from the 3-point area. Far behind the scoring column was Mark Canlas with 11-points but with 10 rebounds to his credit. Bull strong Sereno Cunial was the main man for the Blue Lions with 14-points and 10 rebounds followed closely by Kenny Bullo also with 14-points including 7 rebounds. The Growling Tigers had a game total of 12 assists, 9 steals, 17 turnovers and 5 blocked shots while the Blue Lions had 10 assists, 3 steals and 19 turnovers to wrap up their wildcard campaign.
