University of the East beat Far Eastern University, 74-66, in the semifinals last June 12, 2008 to barge into the finals of the Nike Summer League at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
James Martinez scored 14 points and Marcy Arellano added 13 but it was the timely hits of the Red Warriors two bench players that helped them seal the win.
Rudy Lingganay and Toto Bandaying combined for 16 points and the two engineered a critical 10-2 run late in the third quarter to send UE into the finals.
Marnel Baracael scored 15 points while Benedict Fernandez had 13 for the Tamaraws. UE also out-rebounded FEU, 43-29.
