Heavy Bombers too much for the Blazers

The Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers were just too much for the College of Saint Benilde Blazers - too much indeed - as Coach Ariel Vanguardia’s boys buried the herd Coach Gee Abanilla with a 27-point deficit, 69-42, at the continuation of the Fil Oil Flying V Pre-season Invitational at the Arena in San Juan City last May 26, 2008.

After Colegio de San Juan de Letran’s withdrawal from the tournament, the Heavy Bombers are now on target for one of the top finishers in Group B with a possible seat in the quarterfinals.

Right from the start, the Heavy Bombers showed that they are the boss, taking advantage of the Blazers’ poor field goal percentage. The Blazers settled for only half of the Heavy Bombers’ production, 36-18, at the end of the first half.

In the third quarter, high-flying Nchotu John Njei only had 2 points in the scoresheet but had two blocked shots for an above average effort on defense for JRU.

James Sena stepped up for the Heavy Bombers, adding 6 of his 15 points in the final quarter.

Back to back baskets by Marc Cagoco including a three from downtown in the dying minutes of the game gave the Heavy Bombers a 27-point lead, 69-42.

Quarter Scores : 14-6, 36-18, 45-31, 69-42.

JRU – 69

Cena – 16, Cagoco – 15, Bulangis – 10, Hayes – 6, Kabigting – 3, Matute – 2, Nocom – 2, Lopez – 2, Pradas – 2, Njei – 2.

UP because of poor performance ata.

Masnagagalingan pa ako kay Jhanke ng NU, Espiritu ng UE, Sena & Hayes of JRU, and Nicole hubalde of EAC.
