Tamaraws pull down Golden Stags

Far Eastern University withstood San Sebastian College’s fourth quarter storm with a 77-73 third straight win last May 7, 2008 in the Fil-Oil Flying V Pre Season Invitational Cup at The Arena in San Juan City.
The FEU Tamaraws squandered a 53-43 fourth quarter lead when they allowed forward Raymund Maconocido and point guard John Murphy Raymundo of the Golden Stags to hit thier stride in the last four minutes and force a 64-all standoff.
But Marnel Baracael, Andy Mark Barroca, Reil Cervantes and veteran Marlon Adolfo combined to merge a blazing 13-7 run in the last crucial 3:46 minutes down the stretch to frustrate San Sebastian ’s late rally.
Cervantes led FEU with 16 points, Ricardo Cawaling had 12 points, while Baracael and Barroca added 10 poinst apiece for the Tamaraws, who also had 6 rebounds and 7 assists from Bemedict Fernandez, to keep a 3-0 card in Group B.
“I never lost confidence on my players and I keep telling them to defend in order to win,� said FEU mentor Glenn Capacio. “We scored timely baskets at crunch time and we played good defense.�
Baracael, with scored 4 points in FEU’s endgame run, rounded out the scoring on two free throws off a desperation foul by Gilbert Bulawan in the dying seconds. The Golden Stags surprised the Tamaraws by keeping the game close in the first quarter at 13-all.
With Barroca and Cervantes contributing 6 points each, the Tamaraws outscored San Sebastian in the 2nd quarter to make it a 32-24 halftime lead. Robert Kave came up with 6 points in the third quarter.
Raymund Maconocido fired-off a game-high 23 points, while Raymundo had 11 points for the Golden Stags.

not really.. SSC’s senior players came from their PBL practices before that game..Feu was just lucky taht day..
