Leo Austria is heading back to coach the Adamson University Falcons.

School President Father Gregorio Bañaga confirmed inboundpass.com last April 1, 2008 that Austria, the coach that brought Adamson to the Final Four last 2006, signed a contract with Adamson University for a 3-year minimum to a maximum of 5-years.

“We are still negotiating with Leo (Austria) about the terms and agreement of his contract, but he is now our head coach, said through phone. “ Austria ’s comeback will inspire the players to play tough. Terms and amount of the contract were not specified by Father Bañaga.

Austria replaced former head coach Mel Alas at the start of 2006 season, and then delivered Adamson University its first semifinals appearance since the new format was introduced in 1994.

“I really miss Adamson, said Austria in a text message but did not elaborate any details. “It is good to be back but right now I’m just waiting for my formal contract. Austria led Welcoat Paint Masters to
six PBL championships in 12 finals appearances in the past.

In 2007, Austria left Adamson Universit for a coaching job in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) where he handled the Welcoat Dragons for three conferences. Austria finished the last Philippine Cup with a dismal 3-15 record.

PBA Legend William Bogs Adornado took over Austria’s job , but the Falcons managed to win only two games in Season 70.

Jing Ruiz served as interim head coach for the Falcons for a few months after Adornado’s contract was not renewed in December, 2008. Jing Ruiz will no handle the Baby Falcons.
