for what I read in a newspaper, the board gave PCU the go signal to participate again for the upcoming season BUT only in SENIORS division. Also, it has been reported that PCU voluntarily announced their leave of absence for next year.

Lyceum Pirates is really NCAA caliber, but I really don’t like their attitude. They played with Adamson University on the recent Father Martin Cup and there were two instances that almost sparked into a brawl. FMC pa lang yun, visiting team pa sila. Tigas. :lol:

at least ang la salle umamin noon.

ang ust hindi. kahit na within the age limit pa si duncil noong 2006 na nagchampion sila, the fact is ang documents niya were already tampered from the beginning. gusto pa nga ipasok siya last year kung hindi lang may naka diskubre ng anomalya.

ang pcu, medyo garapalan na ang ginagawa. tama lang masuspend pa rin sila.

you know guys every team does that they were just bluffing everybody in the league that they are not doing such things like that. they just wanted pcu to get off the hook of the league because of some reasons and you guys know of that. this was all a big joke!!! pcu has had their time of being cought of their misdeeds. but then everybody deserves a second chance like what ust had…

Now how about UST’s violation? Jojo Duncil played for UST with a tampered document which is a criminal offense.

Where is the inbounpass follow-up? Why target PCU? Because PCU appear to be dispensable?

La Salle and PCU paid the price. How about UST?

I heard is different from from an anonymous source. It is still 1st hand. So there is no dispute to this and we know our boundaries. Unless you “an anonymous person from NASA” tells you that they saw a UFO….maybe tha could be a credible source..I hope you know what I mean.

I don’t think Trinity College will join because it is planning to withdraw from CUSA because of the lack of money.

I don’t think it is true because joining NCAA requires million of pesos…

At the same time, I’m against the Stallions disbanment because the scholarship of their athletes will loss.

That’s very sad…

Yes, who could forget Emmanuel “Boybits” Victoria. Famous for his slam dunks on warm-ups before the game. He was called “Boybits” from the word “Boy Bitin”.

Victoria was the 3rd Overall Pick in the 1994 PBA Draft by the RFM Franchise. He was behind to number 1 pick, Noli Locsin of Ginebra, and number 2 pick Rey Evangelista of Purefoods. Victoria, eventually was the 1994 PBA Rookie of the Year.

Victoria was part of the Red Lions team that made the 1991 NCAA Finals. That team also produced the 1991 NCAA Senior’s MVP in Antonio “Tony” Valeriano from Pampanga.

Salute to the Red Cubs who made it big in other schools! Paras, Magasanoc & Altamirano (UP), Esplana (FEU). Casio, Monasterio, Ritualo & Pumaren (La Salle). Tenorio, Membrere, Escalona, Escueta, and Arao (Ateneo) Was the current point guard of UE a former cub. I heard a number will be suiting for Mapua. And of course, who can forget former cubs, the high-leaping Boybits Victoria, Joey Loyzaga and Mike Advani, all opted to play for the Red Lions like their younger counterparts who are now with the celebrated champion team. And all those unsung Cubs who had helped their teams win games. ANIMO!

@Major Dude, I was in grade school when my dad(former Beda alumni pres.) took me to the ULTRA in the 1986 UAAP season, it was a UP-UE ellimination round match. This was the first time i saw Benjie Paras, Ronald Magsanoc and Eric Altamirano. UE had then Ella and the “white-haired” Fermin. I remembered Fermin because the gallery were screaming “lolo”. Gerald Esplana, i think played a season with the Red Lions before transferring to FEU. All of them entered PBA in 1989. Paras and Magsanoc for SHELL, Altamirano for ALASKA and Esplana entered in 1990 for PRESTO, where Esplana was also the 1990 PBA ROY.

Truly, San Beda High School, has the best high school program in the country for nearly 30 years.

@The Big Cat. Mike is corect. That era is laden with so much talent from the Red Cubs which won a UAAP championship for UP. Paras, Magsanoc, Altamirano, Roque and Salvatiera were in that team. They are almost in the same batch were Esplana, Vergeire and Pumaren were, i think? But my batch is way ahead of them. It was the time when parked cars are turnedover with windshields being shattered and people were being hurt. Those were the days when the bitter rival is Ateneo. La Salle was a close ally specially during and after game rumbles and in parties. San Beda was the only school that can hold itself high in fights with Letranites. Good thing students are more disciplined now (in the games) because we were not but it was good memories.

It’s all about the kids’s welfare and interest. If we are to write anything that involves them, I firmly believe we should be more discerning in deciding if we should mention their names.

Kaya huwag isiping may undertone or kulay or paghamon ang posts ko.

In as much as I would want to comment on 2 other points you wrote - “damn if you do…” and “…why not this site?”, I’d rather not for it may take away the attention from my 2 previous post.

If you are indeed Mr. Conrad Oca, Hello Sir. Damn if we do mention and damn if we don’t mention. If we don’t mention, someone would say, we heard that Pascual’s name was mentioned, why not this site? Now the same thing applies if we mention his name thus your reaction to this report. Since their names were “mentioned” from a source close to the Mancom, then we have a responsibility to report it unless you want us to hide. But the kid has never been charged yet of a crime AND I believe that is enough reason for Pascual’s eligibility in the league.

I wonder why we have to wait for the NCAA’s official statement to define the involvement of the kids. When in fact the report was written based NOT on an official press release.

In my initial post, I used the word “discernment”. That should guide every reporter when writing based on an anonymous source. So, what if he is considered reliable? Is that a license to mention any kid’s name in a fraudulent act?

More than a reporter’s responsibility to report what he hears and sees, there is a greater responsibility in reporting responsibly.

The report was written based on an anonymous source. Why can’t the same reliable source be asked to spell out the involvement of the kids?

Kung may kasalan, may kasalanan. Paano kung biktima, iba yun.

If the source can name names, he can surely give the specifics of the kids’ involvement.

Reliable naman siya, di ba?
