CCL 2007: Win or Go - Home
Last year’s winners were: Champion – University of the East Warriors; Runner-up – San Beda Red Lions; Third Place – Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers and Fourth Place – Mapua Cardinals.
The CCL 2007 Groupings with their corresponding ranking are as follows:
Group A - 1 – De La Salle Green Archers, 16- Davao Champion, 8- U. Visayas Green Lancers, 9- Lyceum Pirates
Group B -4 - UE Red Warriors, 13 - STI Olympians, 5 - FEU Tamaraws, 12 - MLQU Stallions
Group C - 2 – San Beda Red Lions, 15- Sacred Heart College Stallions, 7- UST Growling Tigers, 10 - Mapua Cardinals
Group D - 3 Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagles, 11 - West Negros Colleges Mustangs, 6 - Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers, 14 - San Sebastian Recoletos - Golden Stags
What is puzzling is that the UE Red Warriors, that had a 14-0 record with an automatic place in the UAAP Season 70 Finals, is ranked No. 4. In my opinion they should be ranked No. 3.
With the Letran Knights skipping the tournament to fulfill the requirements of its sports program has been replaced by the San Sebastian Golden Stags.
In the round of Four, the survivor of the knockout games in each group will meet each other, Group A vs. Group B and Group C vs. Group D. The winners meet for the Championship and the losers meet for third and fourth places.
For this year’s 2007 series, Fil-Oil/Flying V is the main sponsor for the prizes to be awarded to the winning schools.
The winner of the Fil-Oil Flying V National Collegiate Champion Cup will have the distinction of being the best collegiate basketball team for the current season (2007). The school represented by the Champion Team will also receive funding/scholarship support amounting to FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND Pesos (P500,000) for the benefit of the school’s sports program. The runner-up, third placer and fourth placer will receive funding/scholarship support amounting to TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND Pesos (P200,000), ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND Pesos (P100,000) and FIFTY THOUSAND (P50,000) respectively.
For 2007, Smart is the sponsor for special awards. Special awards to be given to outstanding team and individual performances during the series are:
Most Valuable Player (M.V. Pangilinan Cup Awardee)
Members of Mythical teams (Team A and Team B)
Best Defensive Team
Coach of the Series
Best Performing Referee
Mr. Chino Trinidad is the Commissioner of the Collegiate Champions League and together with his technical and support team will be responsible for all the operational and technical aspects of the tournament.
Players who are playing in the PBL will be allowed to play for their respective collegiate teams. The scheduling of both PBL and CCL games will consider this particular situation.
Only players who have been drafted in the professional league (PBA) may be replaced by a team. The replacement player, however, must be approved by the “mother league of the concerned team.
All qualified teams are to submit their official line-up as approved/fielded during their respective league competitions. However, CCL reserves the right to disallow/disqualify players in the spirit of fair collegiate basketball competition as advocated by the League.
The CCL is in partnership with Solar Entertainment for the television coverage of the games. Part of the support being provided by Solar is the media promotion of the games thru television pluggings and inclusion of CCL stories in their sports update shows.

alam ninyo nun pa sana nila isali lagi ang mga college team from visayas sa uaap or sa ncaa para walang kaduda duda mga tao mag isip ,that who is the true and the best college basketball champion in the philippines
kung sino talaga ang the best university or college basketball team sa pinas.like U.V lancer from cebu city always champion in visayas and mindanao their strong enough talaga .di lang talaga na expose ang mga visayas team ,yun lang kulang nila exposure cguro sa t.V .lack of team to play sa province nila, but if you know if they are invited lagi sa tournament in manila like ncaa or uaap i believe lagi silang champion.U.V lancer.NCAA means national college atheletic association of the philippines ,meaning national LAHAT ng universidad ng ating nation pinas.dba?
