Hostile Atenean will be banned

THREE days after failing to retain its title, host University of Santo Tomas has turned its frustration to an irrepressible diehard fan particularly from Ateneo.
The host school, eliminated by Ateneo last Sunday, 64-69, warned the supporters and fans of the three remaining member schools in the tournament namely, Ateneo, De La Salle and University of the East, to be in their proper places while watching the games.
De La Salle enjoys a twice-to-beat advantage over Ateneo, and the winner in that series will face the flawless UE Red Warriors in the a best of three Finals contest.
Secretary-treasurer Felicitas Francisco, through a letter to the UAAP board, is calling on all leaders of the University of the East, Ateneo and La Salle for “good behaviour in the last two weeks of the tournament.
Francisco said Commissioner Ed Cordero and an Ateneo fan had to be extricated at the end of the Ateneo-UST KO game last September 23 after the Ateneo alumnus taunted Cordero while he and his crew were leaving the playing area.
“There are some alumni who really don’t behave the way they have been educated, Francisco said. “Let these (basketball) games be an avenue for further camaraderie among schools, their alumni and students, not for hooliganism.
Although Francisco did not reveal the name of the Ateneo fan, inboundpass.com has managed to identify the fan as Raffy Dayrit according to reliable information from the technical committee.
Dayrit, said by a reliable source who spoke in condition of anonymity, is a 1974 Ateneo High School graduate before moving to University of the Philippines Los Baños, Laguna.
Cordero had identified the heckler and the UAAP board had already banned him from sitting near courtside.
Francisco also said she was infuriated last Sunday when some UST faculty, who had purchased tickets belonging to Ateneo’s side of the Big Dome, were asked to leave by “fans from the other school when the game started.â€?

It’s funny how ateneans hae reacted to this incident. Why, are you surprised that Dayrit has been banned? What about this person who provoked and consequently attacked the WHOLE UST bench in the ’90s? Ano ito, coincidence na parehong graduate nang ateneo ang mga pasimuno?
C’mon! Is this the atenean education that you are so proud about? It’s no wonder even the gradeschoolers who watch bball and vball games are caught flashing the finger to the opposing crowd, and moreso at the refs.
Is this THE ateneo education?
Is this THE school pride?
@Josef Ramos: C’mon, you post as if you have…. sigh. Huwag na lang. Your recent articles about this alleged FEU players being overaged was poorly written and poorly researched. Who’s side are you on anyway?
@GreenMind: UST should be held responsible for that Zobel incident? Ever heard of the Venue security? And what can YOU say about the more serious and more frightening case of voyeurism at the Blue Eagle Gym? How about the ateneans here? Tsk tsk.
Congrats for winning the 70th UAAP Season bball. If UST had its way, you guys would still be suspended until Season 72. hehe

Let’s give a little space to UST. The school has so many unresolved controversies. Private parking inside the school, UST Hospital controversy, the nursing exam, the lawsuit against their own nurses (who took graduate studies at La Salle), and even accusations of mismanagement by the Vatican. Some heads rolled by instruction of the Vaican. The Jojo Duncil and the hosting of the season sould be expected. Let’s give them a break , fellas. They are already down and out.

i think UST messed up in hosting this year’s event. sayang. im speaking as a fan of juniors basketall. first, they scheduled game inconveniently, weekdays, most especially for junior games… dont they know that hs students study too? isnt it ironic to call these players student-athletes, when they are not able to go to school in the first place? secondly, they banned snare drums for venues where juniors basketball is played. 1 bass rule? come on! please mrs francisco, be fair, loosen up! whether we are from adu, admu, dlsz, feu, nu, ue, up, ust, we value our school spirit. this may be juniors basketball, we take it seriously. if you cant afford to host us in a bigger venue to play with our snare drums, and take be proud of our schools, then we dont think you are entitled to be hosts at all. sayang talaga.

It is sad that UST in general is being brought down by the likes of Mrs. Francisco. A respected university would do better without the likes of her. The bias is quite obvious.
Going to the issue however I have seen Mr. Dayrit’s excessive verbal abuse and I agree with the decision (I disagree with the news however that Mrs Francisco HAD to initiate it). His behavior does not befit his standing as an “Atenean” considering that he makes a poor model for kids that watch the game with him.
ONE BIG FIGHT! GO ATENEO!

That my friend is the only thing you are doing..ranting and raving..not thinking at all.
So, if you say that all of us are sore losers because some of us showed a lack of acceptance in defeat then we all are sore losers? If indeed you feel that they are sore losers then we do to..we are not disowning them but simply stating a point that even if they are from our school, if they do something wrong we won’t defend them.
Sino ba ‘to? Bagsak ka lang yata sa entrance or napasipa kaya ansama ng loob mo ah. Season’s over..we accept that (ok maybe some old lady doesn’t but still you can’t generalize).

Then I guess, this should be moderated to protect the users. Some of the posts here really make sense and others well, just a plain crap! admit it! criticms only become acceptable if they were to take constructively. We are all educated here and we should act like one!
Gordonblue, what’s the fuss on getting back and forth with UST? And to claim that they have no breeding? Have you read the whole article? Did you understand it well? If not, I guess you have to attend your english class again and oh.. have her teach you the proper breeding as well.

This site is unmoderated and anyone can pretend to be somebody else. Easy for trolls to manipulate the discussion. Eventually we might get mad at the wrong person from the wrong school.
Example is Gordonblue. He is using Sen. Gordon and Blue to probably refer to Ateneo. He may not even be an Atenean but he tried to malign both San Beda and UST without any provocation. The article is simply about a hostile Atenean with “no breeding”.
UST has been eliminated. What’s the trouble, Gordonblue?

username,
nobody knows.. not maybe somebody from the board itself can tell us that or maybe an insider will do. I’m a thomasian but the way the system goes, I don’t even think it is being handled well. From the little things like the way tickets are being released or sold then to security issues that we are now dealing with, the Host at least has necessary actions to make in response to the complains coming from the students, fans and even the players itself. With due respect to Mrs. Francisco, it seems that she’s being vigilant on these issues and yet the actions on their end are nowhere to be found. But I guess its still the UAAP Board has to have the last say on these issues. And so far, we haven’t heard anything yet coming from them regarding the case of the Zobel players. But again, being the host school, shouldn’t they be responsive as well into these issues? Give the UAAP Board a heads up at least? After all, UAAP is for the camaraderie of the teams. It is for the fans, for the students, alumni and players and not only for one institution’s sake. Dapat lahat ang nakikinabang!
- then after 5 minutes, he finally realized which school I really belong. LOL! So stupid of you!

to !!!!!!!!!!! - my sound nga..maingay ba at nirereklamo ng coaches? Why are you ranting and raving so much? Kasama ka ba sa huddle at di kayo nagkakaintindihan pag nagwave na? The wave pre-empts a usual go Uste cheer and it brings the fans up to par; gets us excited.
To those still furious about what the YJs did..well, if you guys are positive that they were not just goofing around then I agree that they are wrong and should apologize. The season is over for our basketball team and we shouldn’t be sore losers because we aren’t.
