La Salle has deleted Adamson’s Final Four chances.
De La Salle University executed its game to a near perfection to score a convincing 75-55 win over Adamson University last August 23 in the 70th UAAP men’s basketball tournament at the Araneta Coliseum.
Behind their running game and stifling defense, the Green Archers kept the lead all-throughout the game en route to a 7-3 record trailing University of the East while the Falcons were already out of contention in the Final Four.
“I think Adamson lost their motivation to win and we simply took advantage of it, said La Salle mentor Franz Pumaren. “We need to learn from our past mistakes and we are hoping we sustain this win.
Veterans Rico Maierhofer and JV Casio top scored with 12 points apiece for the Green Archers, while Bryan Ilad and Tyrone Tang added nine points each.
Patrick Cabahug made 17 points while Roel Hugnatan added 16 markers and six rebounds for the Falcons.
Adamson, handled by assistant coach Jing Ruiz for the second straight game, never tasted the lead.
After outscoring the Falcons in the opening quarter, the Green Archers, with Casio and Tang unloading seven and six points respectively, took an insurmountable 25-8 bubble and they never looked back.
La Salle got its biggest lead at 38-15 after Tang’s triple with 4:21 to go before halftime.
