BRYAN Faundo came up scorching in every corner to help Letran College score a 92-81 triumph over College of Saint Benilde Friday in the 83 rd NCAA men’s basketball at the Arena in San Juan City.

Go-to-guy forward Faundo torched the Blazers with 22 points and 10 rebounds to deliver the Knights’ their second win after two games. The Knights also share the same 2-0 card with the San Beda College Red Lions. The Blazers dropped to 1-1 with Jose Rizal University and San Sebastian College having the same win-loss record.

“It’s all about effort in the second half,” said Faundo. “We executed well and we reduced our turnovers.”

The Knights unleashed a hot 16-2 burst, capped by Faundo’s four baskets, to bridge the final two quarters with the lead, 84-68.

“It is very unusual for us to score 80 points,” said Knights coach Louie Alas. “They (Blazers) were scoring easy baskets on their transition, so I told my boys to just keep up the pressure. I kept reminding them that we are a defensive team.”

RJ Jazul added 15 points, while center Dino Daa and Carlo Reposar contributed 12 and 11, respectively. John Carlos Melegrito made nine points also for Letran College.

The match was a dog fight for two quarters and nine minutes (22-all and 44-42), until Letran scored six in the final minute of the third quarter with Faundo beating the buzzer for a 74-68 count. The run continued for more than four minutes of the fourth, with the Knights scoring ten straight unanswered points.

Christian Cabatu led CSB with 22 points, going 9-of-11 from the two-point area, hauled seven rebounds and swatted two shot attempts. Archie David was the other Blazer in double digits with 15.

The individual scores:

Letran 92- Faundo 22, Jazul 15, Daa 12, Reposar 11, Melegrito 9, Gutilban 8, Ranises 6, Cabonce 4, Guevarra 3, del Rosario 2, Foronda C. 0, Dangcal 0, Foronda J. 0, Latonio 0
