Still there: Guards – Reynaldo Dangcal, Kirk del Rosario, Rafael Jazul, John Melegrito, Forwards – Dino Daa, Rey Guevarra, Andro Gil Quinday, Regin Ranises, Clarence Foronda, Centers – Bryan Faundo, John Foronda.

Head Coach: Francisco Luis Alas
Asst. Coaches: Carmelo Alas, Justino Pinat, Elmer Latonio

The Knights are on its way to its first year of rebuilding. And Coach Louie Alas said that this is a 3-year rebuilding program and this year, he emphasized is a very important season for them. Another Coach that places a premium in execution, Coach Alas is very confident of his players’ experience and he believes his Knights can give other teams a run for their money.

The Knights have a very decent core in Dino Daa, Bryan Faundo, John Foronda and Andro Quinday. Both Faundo and Foronda, if left unnoticed, can score in the paint in single coverage. But to compliment Letran’s inside game, it must also have the air space. But the Knights are inconsistent on that department. Defensively, though Letran does not boast enough inside muscle, it has the quickness to chase anyone in the perimeter and make them work harder for and opening.

De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde – BLAZERS

2PT%:38%, 3PT%:25%, FG%:66%, FT%:33%, Rebounds: 38.7, Assists: 12.2, Blocks: 3.2, Steals: 4.8, Turnovers: 20.1

Gone are: Jingle Devaras, Jeffrey Libunao, Carmelo Manding, Carlos Trillo, Aaron Umlas

Additions: Guards – Angelo Montecastro, Jeffrey Morial, and Paolo Orbeta, Forwards – Harvey Porras and Christian Cabatu.

Still there: Guards – Kristan Aldover, Antonio Cadiz, Kristoffer Robles, Garri Sevilla, Martin Urra and Santos David Urra III, Forwards – Archimedes David, William Johnston, Gerald Layug and Jacob Manlapaz.

Head Coach: Carlos Garcia
Assistant Coaches: Michael Buendia, Dioscoro Llamas, Adriano Go

Also part of the majority that made the statement - San Beda will form part of the Final 4 cast this season and only 3 slots remain, waiting to be filled. Coach Caloy Garcia will definitely do better this year and he aims to be in the Final 4. Coach Caloy describes his team as more of running team than a power team. Coach Caloy also added that this year’s Blazers are more balanced and has a little bit of a perimeter game and can create opportunities inside.

Last year, they were almost crowded with a rookie cast. Now that the players – both rookies and veterans had luxury of time to play together, the Blazers are experienced enough to pull a lot of surprises.

I give the first three semis slots to SBC, JRU and MIT. Letran and Benilde should slug it out for the 4th spot.

Letran’s weakness is in its inability to execute at end game. But this is a team that cannot be dominated by even those with outright taller and deeper line-ups. Laging dikit ang laban pag sila ang katapat. But they are in need of 1, just 1 player who will create situations or deliver outright at end game.

Benilde showed great promise from last season. With 10 holdovers, by progression they should be a better team. Tanong na lang ay - “Do they have the nerves to play the big games?”. If going to the last elimination game, they are in a must win situation to advance to the F4, kakayanin ba nila yung pressure? Their line-up is sorely lacking in play-off experience.

    Hi Oca,

Was able to see the tune-up match between CSB vs. UST with their full line-up. CSB won 78-66. Will post the recap in a bit. We wish CSB the best of luck this season.
